‘The project focuses on this boundary condition and how it could be harnessed..’

Project: COOPERATIVE

The adjacency to a bluestone laneway, busy road and tightly packed workers’ cottages made this two storey extension to a single fronted weatherboard cottage challenging. The proposal would have to treat the public realm with added respect as well as protect the family’s privacy and exposure to noise pollution. The project focuses on this boundary condition and how it could be harnessed and utilise the shared qualities of an exposed condition, providing both protection from the elements, privacy for daytime and evening tasks and give back to an area synonymous with a distinct lack of consideration for the public engagement.
